Ծանոթ ու միարժամանակ անհայտ… դաշույն

Շատ վաղուց, երբ մարդը սկսել է սովորել, թե ինչպես վարվել քարի հետ՝ սկսվել է դաշույնի պատմությունը: Տարբեր ցեղերի մարտիկները, մասնակցելով բախումների և մարտերի, արագ հասկացել են, որ թշնամուն դանակահարելով հեշտությամբ կարելի է սպանել կամ վիրավորել: Ի սկզբանե դաշույնը եղել է քարից: Աշխարհի տարբեր մասերում դաշույնը (արաբերենից «ձեռագործ») ստեղծվել է որպես ամենապարզ սառը ծակող զենք: Այն անգամ կարելի էր ամրացնել փայտի ծայրին և դարձնել նիզակի ծայրակալ: Մ.Թ.Ա. 7-8-րդ դարերի ուշագրավ գտածոներ են հայտնաբերվել  Իրանի արևմտյան պատմական շրջանի Լուրիստան քաղաքում պեղումների ժամանակ: Դրանց թվում են քարե դաշույնները, որոնք չնայած կատարյալ չեն, բայց կարող էին օգտագործվել որպես ծակող-կտրող զենք: Սկանդինավիայում, Եգիպտոսում, Աֆրիկայում ևս հնէաբանները գտել են քարից պատրաստված դաշույններ: Դրանք թվագրվել են  մ.թ.ա. 2-րդ հազարամյակով: Եգիպտական ​​դաշույնները 30-40 սմ երկարություն են ունեցել, և այնքան էլ պինդ չեն եղել:

Սայրը ամրացվել է փայտից կամ փղոսկրից պատրաստված բռնակին: Բուն բռնակը զարդարված է եղել որսորդական և մարտական ​​տարբեր տեսարաններով: Նման երկար շեղբերով և հեշտ կոտրվող դաշունները նախատեսված չեն եղել մարտերի համար, ակնհայտ է, որ դրանք օգտագործվել են կրոնական ծեսերում: Սկանդինավյան երկրներում պատրաստված քարե դաշույնները համարվել են լավագույնները Եվրոպայում: Նրանց շեղբերը, համեմատած եգիպտական դաշույնների հետ եղել են  ավելի ծավալուն և լայն:

Դաշույններն անչափ տարածված են եղել, ուստի մ.թ.ա. 16-ից 18-րդ դարերը շվեդ գիտնականները անվանում էին «Դաշույնների դարաշրջան» (DOLR-TID): Սայրերի արտադրության համար օգտագործվել են  դեղին, սաթ կամ շագանակագույն սիլիկատներ,  սև, կարմիր, կանաչ կամ սպիտակ գույների քվարցիտներ: Սկանդինավիայի ամենահին դաշույնները գրեթե ռոմբաձև են եղել և միայն մեկ սուր ծայրն է մի փոքր հարթեցված եղել բռնակին ավելի լավ միանալու համար: Ենթադրվում է, որ դաշույնների ամենակատարյալ օրինակները ստեղծվել են մ.թ.ա. 16-րդ դարում: Ացտեկները, որոնք ապրել են Մեքսիկայում՝ ամերիկյան մայրցամաքում, իրենց դաշույնները պատրաստելու համար օգտագործել են սև կամ մուգ կանաչ օբսիդիան, իսկ բռնակը զարդարել բարդ նախշերով:

Հնագույն դաշույնները պատրաստվել են նաև անասունների եղջյուրներից, այնուհետև սկսել են օգտագործել  մետաղներ (պղինձ, բրոնզ, երկաթ, պողպատ)։ Հայաստանում պեղումների ժամանակ հայտնաբերվել են բրոնզի և երկաթի դարերի դաշույններ՝  նախշազարդված պատյաններով (երկրաչափական, բուսական և կենդանական նախշերով)։ Հայաստանում և Կովկասում հարուստ և ազդեցիկ անձինք կրել են կաշեպատ, ոսկեզօծ, նախշազարդ պատյաններով, քանդակազարդ բռնակներով (փղոսկր, ոսկի, արծաթ և այլն) դաշույններ։ Կովկասյան մի շարք ժողովուրդների տղամարդիկ ներկայումս էլ դաշույն կրում են որպես զգեստի մաս (որպես քաջության խորհրդանիշ)։
