«Փաստ» օրաթերթը գրում է.

Երբ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի կողմից հերթական անգամ հարձակման ենթարկվեց Հայ առաքելական եկեղեցին, ու հայտարարվեց, որ Մայր Աթոռ Սուրբ Էջմիածնում տեղի է ունենալու Գերագույն հոգևոր խորհրդի ժողով, շատերը կարծիք էին հայտնում, որ Մայր Աթոռը պետք է արմատական մոտեցում ցուցաբերի. ոմանք կարծում էին, որ պետք է նզովվեն Նիկոլ Փաշինյանն ու իր թիմակիցները, որոնք պատերազմ են հայտարարել ՀԱԵ-ին, ոմանք կարծում էին, որ եկեղեցու «զանգերը պետք է հնչեցնել», ոմանք վստահ էին, որ Եկեղեցին պետք է առաջնորդի համաժողովրդական շարժում՝ ընդդեմ Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի ու իր իշխանության:

Որքան էլ Գերագույն հոգևոր խորհրդի ժողովի հայտարարությունը բավականին կոշտ էր, այնուամենայնիվ, քանի որ կոնկրետ գործողությունների սպասումը մեծ էր ու երբեմն չափազանցված, մեր հանրության որոշ մասի շրջանում կար ինչ-որ ափսոսանք, եթե չասենք հիասթափություն:

«Փաստ» թերթի տեղեկություններով, Գերագույն հոգևոր խորհրդի ժողովն իրականում այնքան էլ հարթ չի ընթացել: Թե՛ բարձրաստիճան հոգևորականների և թե՛ աշխարհական անդամների մեջ եղել է բավական արմատական տրամադրված «թև», որը կոչ է արել ոչ միայն շատ կոշտ հայտարարություն անել, այլև դիմել կտրուկ գործողությունների: Ավելին, նույնիսկ կոնկրետ գործողությունների առաջարկներ են եղել: Ավելին, մեր աղբյուրների փոխանցմամբ, քննարկումն այնքան թեժ է եղել, որ մեկ անգամ նույնիսկ ընդմիջում է հայտարարվել՝ մթնոլորտը հանդարտեցնելու:

Ի վերջո, ընդունվել է հայտնի հայտարարությունը, սակայն այս ամենը նշանակում է, որ, քանզի Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը շարունակում է թիրախավորել Եկեղեցին ու բարձրաստիճան հոգևորականներին, Եկեղեցին գուցե իսկապես ստիպված լինի գնալ հայ հանրության և արմատական տրամադրված եկեղեցականների պահանջի ճանապարհով: Երևի թե պատահական չէին նաև ՀԱԵ Շիրակի թեմի առաջնորդ Միքայել արքեպիսկոպոս Աջապահյանի խոսքերը. «Եթե դուք ամեն ինչի ընդունակ եք, մենք ամեն ինչի պատրաստ ենք»:
