Սորոսական ցանցին ամերիկյան ֆինանսավորման դադարեցումը «հետաքրքիր իրավիճակ է» ստեղծել Գյումրիում: Մեր աղբյուրները հայտնում են, որ Գյումրիի քաղաքապետի թեկնածու Լևոն Բարսեղյանին եվրոպացիները խոստացել են ամերիկացիների փոխարեն իրենք ֆինանսավորեն, եթե նա կարողանա Գյումրիի ավագանիում խմբակցություն ունենալ և ավագանիով այնպիսի որոշում ընդունել, համաձայն որի Գյումրիի հիվանդանոցներից մեկը պետք է վերազինվի ու դառնա սեռափոխության հիվանդանոց:

Խնդիրն այն է, որ մինչև ուկրաինական պատերազմը Հայաստանից ԱՄՆ դեսպանատան ֆինանսավորմամբ սեռափոխության օպերացիայի էին մեկնում Կիև: Ոչ միայն Հայաստանից էին Կիև մեկնում, այլև Վրաստանից, Թուրքիայից և Ռուսաստանից: Պատերազմի հետևանքով Կիևի սեռափոխության հիվանդանոցը դարարեցրել է իր գործունեությունը: Բացի դրանից, Դոնալդ Թրամփն արգելել է սեռափոխության օպեցիա ֆինանսավորելը, ինչի հետևանքով Հայաստանի, Վրաստանի, Ռուսաստանի և Թուրքիայի ԼԳԲՏ շրջանակները փաստի առաջ են կանգնել:

Ինչո՞ւ են տարածաշրջանում եվրոպացիները Հայաստանն ընտրել որպես «ԼԳԲՏ», իսկ Գյումրին՝ որպես սեռափոխության կենտրոն, որովհետև Հայաստան, Վրաստան, Ռուսաստան և Թուրքիա շարանում միայն Նիկոլ Փաշինյանն է համաձայն տեղ տալ ԼԳԲՏ թեմատիկային, բայց պայմանով, որ կոնկրետ իր անձի և իր ՔՊ-ի հետ ուղղակի կապ չունենա և նախաձեռնությունը գա «քաղաքացիական հասարակությունից»: Դրա համար Գյումրին հարմար է. աչքից հեռու է, և հետո քաղաք բավականին շատ ֆինանսական միջոցներ կհոսեն մի կողմից Ավստրիայի կառավարության փողերով վերազինվող սեռափոխության հիվանդանոցի, մյուս կողմից՝ սեռափոխության համար Գյումրի ժամանող ԼԳԲՏ անձանց հյուրանոցներում և ռեստորաններում թողնվելիք գումարներից:

Ըստ որոշ տեղեկությունների՝ Լևոն Բարսեղյանի «Գյումրին որպես սեռափոխության տարածաշրջանային կենտրոն» ծրագիրը Եվրոպական միությանը Հայաստանի անդամակցության նախապայմաններից մեկն է:
