Вышедшая в свет новая монография академика Рубена Сафрастяна анализирует программы геноцида в Османской империи в 1876-1915 гг.

В Москве в рамках Книжной серии ДИАЛОГ (основатель – общественно-политический деятель, политолог Юрий Навоян) вышла в свет научная монография академика Рубена Сафрастяна «Османская империя: программы геноцида». Изданию книги, которая рекомендована Ученым советом Института востоковедения НАН Армении, содействовал меценат Мгер Аветисян.
 
 В книге Рубена Сафрастяна «Османская империя: программы геноцида» с точки зрения современного геноцидоведения рассматриваются факторы, способствовавшие генезису программы геноцида в Османской империи, а также подробно анализируются сами программы геноцида. Отмечается, что первая программа, утверждённая османским правительством в 1876 г., была направлена против болгарского народа, однако осталась не реализованной, так как Россия освободила Болгарию. В монографии подробно анализируется программа геноцида 1915 года, целью которой было уничтожение армянского населения Османской империи, и которая была реализована. 
 
Книга написана на основе широкого использования первоисточников, в том числе, богатых фондов российских архивов.
 
Академик Национальной Академии Наук Армении, профессор, доктор исторических наук Рубен Сафрастян – специалист в области истории и политики Османской империи и республиканской Турции, автор около двух сотен научных публикаций, переведенных на многие языки, победитель ряда престижных международных научных конкурсов и член руководящих советов международных научных центров и журналов. В течение ряда лет профессор Сафрастян руководил Институтом востоковедения Национальной Академии Наук и заведовал кафедрой в Армянском государственном педагогическом университете.
 
Он имеет также опыт аналитической работы в Администрации Президента Республики Армения и дипломатической работы в Германии. В 2021 г. французское издание «Le dictionnaire biographique: Arméniens d'hier & d'aujourd'hui» включило Рубена Сафрастяна в число выдающихся армян всех времен.
