ԱՄՆ Ֆրեզնո քաղաքի «Արարատ» հայկական գերեզմանատունը, որտեղ հանգչում են բազմաթիվ հայ ականավոր գործիչներ, այդ թվում՝ Սողոմոն Թեհլիրյանը, Վիլյամ Սարոյանը, Վիկտոր Մաղաքյանը, հունվարի կեսից ի վեր հրկիզողների թիրախ է դարձել. ընդհանուր առմամբ տեղի է ունեցել վեց միջադեպ: Վերջինը գրանցվել է ուրբաթ գիշեր, երբ հրկիզվել է ութ ծառ գլխավոր մուտքի մոտ:

Ինչպես նշում է Fox 24 News-ը, դեպքի վայր են ժամանել Ֆրեզնոյի ոստիկանությունն ու հրշեջ ծառայությունը, սակայն որևէ ձերբակալություն տեղի չի ունեցել:

«Ինչպես կարող եք պատկերացնել, սա ահավոր վրդովեցուցիչ է տնօրենների խորհրդի, հայ համայնքի, իմ անձնակազմի և անձնապես ինձ համար: Մենք միակ հայկական գերեզմանատունն ենք Հայաստանից և Մերձավոր Արևելքից դուրս, մեր առաքելությունն է կարեկցանքով ծառայել հայ ընտանիքներին՝ միևնույն ժամանակ վառ պահելով բոլոր նրանց հիշատակը, ովքեր թաղված են այստեղ: Իմ անձնակազմը և ես շատ լուրջ ենք վերաբերվում այս առաքելությանը, անհնար է գերագնահատել, թե որքան տխուր է այս ամենը մեզ համար», - ասել է «Արարատ» և «Մասիս Արարատ» հայկական գերեզմանատների գործադիր տնօրեն/ադմինիստրատոր Շերի Մենինգ-Քարթրայթը:

Հրդեհները տեղի են ունեցել գերեզմանատան ամենահին հատվածում, որը հիմնադրվել է 1885 թվականին: Դարպասներն ու կամարը հստակ վկայում  են, որ գույքը հայկական է:

Կատարվածը մտահոգիչ է՝ հաշվի առնելով, որ մոտենում է Ապրիլի 24-ը՝ Հայոց ցեղասպանության հիշատակի օրը և չի բացառվում, որ սա կարող է լինել ատելության հողի վրա հանցագործություն:

Այրված ծառերի հեռացման և փոխարինման նախահաշիվը կազմում է մոտավորապես $25,000: Տնօրենների խորհուրդը վստահ չէ՝ արդյոք ապահովագրությունը կփակի ծախսերը:
