«Կարծեմ 2023թ. գարնանն էր… Ստեփանակերտի «Ռոսիա» սրճարանում Ռուբեն Վարդանյանի հետ նստած՝ զրուցում էինք Արցախում և նրա շուրջ տեղի ունեցող զարգացումներից: Այդ օրերին նա նոր էր թողել պետնախարարի պաշտոնը: Խոսում էինք հանրապետությունում ստեղծված ռազմաքաղաքական ծանր վիճակից, կարծիքներ փոխանակում իրադրությունից դուրս գալու ելքերի շուրջ և… հարցնում եմ՝

-Թշնամու ճամբարից Ձեր մասին հաճախ են ակնարկում, դա Ձեզ չի՞ անհանգստացնում:

-Ինձ ավելի շատ անհանգստացնում է Արցախում տիրող այսօրվա մթնոլորտը, երբ մարդիկ զբաղված են մեկը մյուսին «սևացնելու» հանցավոր անգործունեությամբ, այլ ոչ թե միասնական ուժերով իրավիճակից դուրս գալու ելքեր փնտրելով…

-Մեր առաջին հանդիպման ժամանակ ես Ձեզ ասել էի, որ արցախցիներին լավ չեք ճանաչում, հիշո՞ւմ եք…

-Իսկ ես էլ ասացի, որ աշխարհի բոլոր մարդիկ նույնն են, պարզապես, նրանց ոչ թե հասկացնել, այլ հասկանալ է պետք… Այսօր մենք՝ ոչ միայն նրանց, այլև ինքներս մեզ չենք հասկանում… Ինձ համար, օրինակ, զարմանալի չէր լինի, եթե վաղը 200 դոլարով ինչ-որ մի վարձկան մահափորձ կատարի իմ դեմ… Ես դրանից չեմ վախենում, ես վախենում եմ նրա համար, ով, 200 դոլարի դիմաց պատրաստ է գնալ պատվիրված սպանության…

Հ.գ.-2023թ. սեպտեմբերի 27-ին Հագարի կամուրջի մոտ ադրբեջանցիների կողմից տեղադրված ապօրինի անցակետում Ռուբեն Վարդանյանը կալանավորվել և տեղափոխվել է Բաքվի բանտ:
