Փաշինյանին, լավագույն դեպքում, կարելի է համեմատել Մելիք Ֆրանգյուլի կամ Աղբյուր Սերոբին թունավորած գեղաշենցի Ավեի հետ, բայց ոչ երբեք Պապ թագավորի. պատմաբան

«Սա նրա հերթական եղկելի քարոզչական հնարքներից մեկն էր, երբ որ ինքն իրեն անուղղակիորեն համեմատում է Պապ թագավորի հետ:

Պապ թագավորը հայոց Արշակունյաց տոհմի ներկայացուցիչն է, հայոց Արշակ Մեծ թագավորի որդին է, որը եկավ ու իր կարճատեւ կառավարման ժամանակահատվածում շատ կարեւոր գործեր արեց: Հայոց պատմության մեջ եղած կերպարներից, անձերից, որոնց հետ թերեւս կարելի է ինչ-որ համեմատության եզրեր գտնել Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի հետ, լավագույն դեպքում կարող է լինել Մելիք Ֆրանգյուլը կամ գեղաշենցի Ավեն, ով Աղբյուր Սերոբին թունավորեց, կամ Մելիք Դավիթը, որն իր աղջկան ստիպողաբար կնության էր տվել ՖաթԱլիխանին, ինքն էլ մահմեդականություն էր ընդունել ու դարձել Տաթեւի շրջանի ժողովրդի հարստահարիչը, կեղեքողն ու ահ ու սարսափը:

Թերեւս այս կերպարների հետ կարելի է համեմատել Նիկոլ Փաշինյանին, այլ ոչ երբեք Պապ թագավորի»,-Aravot.am-ի հետ զրույցում ասաց  պատմաբան Մենուա Սողոմոնյանը՝ անդրադառնալով Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի երեկվա ելույթին, որի ժամանակ նա իր ու Պապ թագավորի ընդհանրություններն էր ներկայացնում:

Պատմաբանի խոսքով, Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի ելույթը սուր կողմով նաեւ ուղղված էր Հայ Առաքելական եկեղեցու դեմ. «Վկայակոչելով մարդկանց, որոնք գրել են հայոց պատմությունը, բնականաբար, այն ժամանակ եկեղեցին էր գրում պատմությունը եւ փաստ չէ, թե այդ տողերը, որ գրվել են ու Պապ թագավորին բնորոշել են, ինչ է եղել, ինչի համար է եղել, համենայնդեպս, 4-րդ դարի իրողություններն ու 4-րդ դարում պատմություն գրելը համեմատել 21-րդ դարի իրողությունների հետ ու 21-րդ դարում պատմություն գրելու հետ, սրիկայություն է պարզապես:

Ոչ ոք թող չմտածի, թե պատմություն գրողից է կախված լինելու Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի արած-չարածի վերաբերյալ գնահատականները: Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի ամբողջ կյանքը, նրա ամբողջ գործունեությունը՝ թե՛ իր ուսանող լինելու, թե՛ իր դպրոցական լինելու ժամանակ, թե՛ իր ընդդիմադիր գործունեության շրջանում, թե՛ առավել եւս որպես ՀՀ տխրահռչակ վարչապետ լինելու ընթացքում, ամեն ինչ արձանագրված է, տեսագրված է

 Այնպես որ պատմություն գրելու կարիք չի լինելու: Պատմությունն, ի վերջո, գրվում է մտավորականների կողմից, խելամիտ մարդկանց կողմից եւ սերունդները, որոնք հետագայում կաշկանդված չեն լինելու ինչ-ինչ վախերով ու ապրելու են իսկապես ազատ Հայաստանում, հետագայում նրա գործունեությունը շատ մանրամասներով ուսումնասիրելու են, բոլոր փաստերն իրար կողքի են  դնելու ու տալու են գնահատականը, այն գնահատականը, որ ինքը տվեց, ինքն իրեն ինչ պիտակավորումներ որ արեց, այդ բոլոր գնահատականները օբյեկտիվորեն են լինելու, թող չփորձի նա պատմություն գրողով պայմանավորի իր տխրահռչակ գործունեության, այդ գործունեության աղետալի հետեւանքների  մասին արձանագրումը:

Հիմա եկեղեցին չէ, որ գրելու է իր պատմությունը, նրա պատմությունը գրվելու է բուհերում, ակադեմիայում, գրվելու է  մասնագետների կողմից: Գնացեք ցանկացած բուհ, անանուն հարցում անցկացրեք դասախոսների ու ուսանողների շրջանում, Նիկոլ Փաշինյան անուն, ազգանունը ամոթաբեր, անպատվաբեր անուն, ազգանուն է: Եթե նրա կառավարման շրջանի մասին պատմությունը գրի civic.am-ի լրագրողը, գուցե նա այդտեղ պատկերվի որպես հերոս, բայց ես համոզված եմ, որ նրա տխրահռչակ իշխանության վերջը գալու է եւ դա ուշ չի լինելու եւ, ցավոք սրտի, այսքան կորուստներից հետո է այդ ամենն արձանագրվելու»:
