Օգոստոսի 20-ին, ժամը 17.04-ին, 911 ծառայությունից ՆԳՆ ոստիկանության օպերատիվ կառավարման կենտրոն հաղորդում է ստացվել, որ Կողբացու փողոցի շենքերից մեկի մի բնակարանում հրդեհ է: Նշված հասցե մեկնած ՆԳՆ փրկարար ծառայության աշխատակիցները հրդեհաշիջման աշխատանքներ կատարելուց հետո հայտնաբերել են դիակ: Նշված հասցե օպերատիվ-քննչական խումբ է մեկնել: Դիակի վրա կտրած-ծակած վնասվածքներ են հայտնաբերվել:

Ձեռնարկված միջոցառումների շնորհիվ պարզվել է դիակի ինքնությունը՝ Արմավիրի մարզի 28-ամյա բնակիչ: Նախաձեռնվել է քրեական վարույթ: ՆԳՆ ոստիկանության ՔՈԳՎ, Երևան քաղաքի վարչության և Կենտրոնական բաժնի ծառայողները, իրացնելով օպերատիվ տվյալները և համագործակցելով Վաղարշապատի և Աշոցքի բաժինների ծառայողների հետ, պարզել են հանցագործության մեջ կասկածվողի ինքնությունը: Ըստ նախնական տվյալների՝ 26-ամյա եիտասարդը սուր ծակող-կտրող գործիքով բազմաթիվ հարվածներ է հասցրել 28-ամյա քաղաքացուն՝ պատճառելով մահ, այնուհետև հետքերը թաքցնելու նպատակով հրդեհել է բնակարանը: Օգոստոսի 21-ին, ժամը 02.40-ին, կասկածյալը Բավրայի սահմանային անցակետում հայտնաբերվել, ձերբակալվել և տեղափոխվել է ՆԳՆ ոստիկանության Կենտրոնական բաժին: Նա ներկայացվել է վարույթն իրականացնող մարմին: Հիշեցնենք, որ երեկ տրանս կին Լիլիթ Մարտիրոսյանը տեղեկացրել էր, որ 16:30- ի սահմաններում իր բնակարանում սպանվել է տրանս կին ու այրել են բնակարանը։
