Քաղաքական-հասարկական գործիչ Ավետիք Չալաբյանը ֆեյսբուքյան իր էջում գրում է. «Երեկ ՀՀ Վերաքննիչ քրեական դատարանը որոշում ընդունեց բեկանել Առաջին ատյանի դատարանի որոշումը, և գրավի դիմաց ազատ արձակել ՀՅԴ անդամ Գերասիմ Վարդանյանին:

Գերասիմ Վարդանյանը կալանքի տակ էր պահվում գործող իշխանության կողմից՝ բացարձակ շինծու մեղադրանքով: Իրականում Գերասիմը իր հայրենիքի նվիրյալ զավակն է, նրա պաշտպանությանը զենքը ձեռքին մասնակցած, և այդ հայրենիքի ազատության համար պայքարող աննկուն մարտիկը: Դատարանում նրա ելույթները ամեն անգամ շառաչուն մի ապտակ էին նրան անազատության մեջ պահող թուլամորթների համար, և ավելի ակնհայտ էին դարձնում նրանց ողջ բարոյական սննակությունը:

Ուրախ եմ, որ ի վերջո արդարությունը, թեև ուշացումով, վերականգնվեց, և Գերասիմը դուրս է գալիս ազատության: Համոզված եմ, որ նրա պայքարը սեփական երկրի ազատության համար միայն նոր թափ կստանա, և լավագույն մաղթանքներն եմ հղում Գերասիմ Վարդանյանին»:
