ԱՄՆ նախագահ Ջո Բայդենը պատրաստ է հանդիպել Հյուսիսային Կորեայի առաջնորդ Կիմ Չեն Ընի հետ, եթե նա լրջորեն մոտենա բանակցություններին, գրում է ՏԱՍՍ֊ը։

«Ինչ վերաբերում է Հյուսիսային Կորեայի առաջնորդի հետ հանդիպմանը, այո, դա կախված կլինի նրանից, թե որքանով է նա անկեղծ ու լուրջ»,- շաբաթ օրը հայտարարել է Սպիտակ տան հաղորդավարը Հանրապետության ղեկավարի հետ Սեուլում կայացած հանդիպման արդյունքներով համատեղ մամուլի ասուլիսում։

Ինչպես ապրիլի վերջին ասել էր Սպիտակ տան մամուլի քարտուղար Ջեն Փսակին, Միացյալ Նահանգները նոր մոտեցում է մշակել ԿԺԴՀ-ի նկատմամբ՝ հրաժարվելով «ռազմավարական համբերության» գաղափարներից և «մեծ գործարք» կնքելով Փհենյանի հետ։ Ավելի վաղ Բայդենի վարչակազմն ազդարարել էր, որ չի ծրագրում ապավինել ԿԺԴՀ-ի հետ ուղիղ երկկողմ երկխոսությանը՝ հանուն Կորեական թերակղզու միջուկազերծման։ Սպիտակ տունը հունվարին նախազգուշացրել էր, որ պատրաստվում է, ի թիվս այլ բաների, վարել Փհենյանին զսպելու քաղաքականություն։ Այնուամենայնիվ, մայիսի վերջին Բայդենը հաստատեց, որ պատրաստ է անձնական հանդիպման ԿԺԴՀ առաջնորդ Կիմ Չեն Ընի հետ որոշակի պայմաններով, առաջին հերթին նախատեսելով բանակցություններ Փհենյանի ապամիջուկայնացման համար։

ԱՄՆ-ի շտաբի նախկին ղեկավար Դոնալդ Թրամփը աննախադեպ անձնական մասնակցություն է ունեցել ԿԺԴՀ-ի հետ բանակցություններին, որոնք կոչված էին՝ լուծելու ապամիջուկայնացման խնդիրը։ 2018 թվականի հունիսին Սինգապուրում տեղի ունեցավ ԱՄՆ-ԿԺԴՀ առաջին գագաթնաժողովը, որի արդյունքում ընդունվեց համատեղ փաստաթուղթ։ Այնուհետև Փհենյանը պարտավորվեց ապամիջուկայնացում իրականացնել Վաշինգտոնից անվտանգության երաշխիքների դիմաց:
