Ծանոթ ու միարժամանակ անհայտ …երաժշտական գործիք բանբիռ

Բամբիռը հին հայկական ազգային լարային կսմիթավոր նվագարան է և հանդիսացել է գուսանների գործիքը։ Իր նախնական տեսքով այն չի պահպանվել, վերականգնված է միայն ըստ գրավոր աղբյուրներում պահպանված նկարագրությունների ու տեղեկությունների։ Բամբիռի անվանումը գալիս է «բամբ» բառից, որը նշանակում է բաս, թավ հնչողություն։

Հայ միջնադարյան մանրանկարներն են պատկերացում տալիս, թե ինչպիսի նվագարան է եղել բամբիռը: Այդ նվագարանի մասին առաջին տեղեկություններն  գալիս են միայն 9-րդ դարի աղբյուրներում, չնայած այն ավելի հին նվագարան է։ Մինչև այժմ ստույգ կերպով բնութագրված չեն ավանդական բամբիռի արտաքին տեսքը և կիրառման եղանակը։ Հստակորեն հայտնի չէ նաև լարերի քանակը, տեղեկություններ չկան լարվածքի, հնչողության և ընդգրկած ձայնածավալի մասին։ Հնագույն այդ նվագարանի մասին մոտավոր պատկերացումներ են տալիս հայ պատմիչների ու վիպասանների կցկտուր տեղեկությունները և վերջին ժամանակներում մասնագետների կատարած ուսումնասիրությունները։ Ըստ երաժշտագետ Նիկողոս Թահմիզեանի այդ «լարավոր-կսմիթահար նվագարանը տարածված նվագարան է եղել հին և միջնադարյան Հայաստանում»։ Գուսանները հին Հայաստանում շրջել են գավառե գավառ և կատարել վիպական երաժշտական ստեղծագործություններ, և քանի որ նրանց արվեստում կարևոր դեր է ունեցել և՛ նվագը և՛ խոսքը, ուստի նրանց հարկավոր է եղել այնպիսի նվագարան, որով միաժամանակ հնարավոր է նվագել ու երգել կամ արտասանելը։ Այս պատճառով էլ նրանք նախընտրել են լարային աղեղնավոր ու կսմիթային նվագարանները։ Դրանցից մեկն էլ հենց եղել է բամբիռը։ Պատմական աղբյուրներում, թեկուզև կցկտուր, բայց բազմաթիվ հիշատակությունները բամբիռի մասին վկայում են այն, որ այն լայնորեն է տարածված եղել Հայաստանում և կարևոր դեր է խաղացել երկրի մշակութային կյանքում։ Ենթադրաբար բամբիռը եղել է պարանոցից կախ գցելու պարզ նվագարան։ 

Երկար ժամանակ ազգագրագետների ու երաժշտագետների շրջանում տիրապետում էր այն կարծիքը, թե բամբիռը եղել է ծնծղա, այսինքն՝ միմյանց խփելու ափսեաձև գործիք։ Սակայն Ղևոնդ Ալիշանի մոտ հանդիպում է գրվածք, որտեղ այդ երկու նվագարանները հիշատակվում են կողք-կողքի։ Անհիմն է նաև այն տեսակետը, թե բամբիռը ջութակների ընտանիքին պատկանող գործիք է, քանզի գիտականորեն ապացուցված է, որ այդ դասի նվագարաններից ամենահինը 9-րդ դարի ծնունդ է։ Բամբիռի կառուցվածքի մասին պահպանվել են խիստ կցկտուր տեղեկություններ։ Հայտնի է, որ այն լարային նվագարան է, որի լարերը պատրաստվել են որևէ կենդանու աղիքից։ Երաժիշտ-նվագարանագործ Մարտին Երիցյանի կարծիքով բամբիռը եղել է եվրոպական թավջութակի նախատիպը, քանի որ անունն էլ այդ տեսակետի օգտին է խոսում. այդ երկու նվագարաններն էլ ունեն թավ, բամբ հնչողություն։ Բայց, ի տարբերություն թավջութակի, բամբիռը նվագել են առանց աղեղի։

Վարպետների տարբեր սերունդներ փորձել են վերականգնել բամբիռ նվագարանը։ Արևելյան երաժշտության տեսաբան, երաժիշտ Վարդան Բունինը նույնիսկ ստեղծել է ժամանակակից աղեղնավոր մի նվագարան, որը սակայն չի պահպանվել մինչև մեր օրերը։
