Почему так важно следить за гигиеной полости рта?

Люди, пренебрегающие гигиеной полости рта, больше подвержены риску развития слабоумия, в том числе болезни Альцгеймера. К такому выводу пришли ученые из Университета Нью-Йорка.

Как сообщает Lenta.ru, патогенная микрофлора десен может быть связана с высоким уровнем бета-амилоидного белка, аномальные накопления которого считаются опасными для нейронов.

Американские ученые провели эксперимент с привлечением 48 пожилых людей без явных признаков когнитивных нарушений. Ученые исследовали микрофлору пародонтальных карманов (соотношение вредных бактерий к полезным, известное как дисбиотический индекс) и сопоставили результаты с данными о наличии амилоидного белка и нейрофибриллярных скоплений в спинномозговой жидкости.

Как оказалось, повышенный дисбиотический индекс (превалирование патогенных микробов, включая Treponema, Porphyromonas, Tannerella, над здоровой микрофлорой, в том числе Rothia, Corynebacterium) связан был с увеличением уровня бета-амилоидного белка (группа Aβ+). Если в образцах находили высокую концентрацию опасных белков, риск повышенного дисбиотического индекса возрастал в 4 раза.

Специалисты полагают, что патогены из полости рта могут проникать в центральную нервную систему и оказывать прямое патологическое воздействие на мозг. Также они вызывают общее воспаление, которое в итоге переходит на мозг.
