«Որևէ պարագայում ես չեմ լինելու Հայաստանում ղեկավար պաշտոնի: Ես կարող եմ լինել ցանկացած պաշտոնյայի խորհրդատու, խորհրդական, բայց ոչ ավելին, իմ ասածը չի նշանակում, որ ես ակտիվ քաղաքականությունից պատրաստվում եմ հեռանալ, իմ ասածը չի նշանակում, որ ՀՀԿ-ն քաղաքական դաշտում կորցնելու է իր ազդեցությունը: Ես էլ եմ լինելու ակտիվ, ՀՀԿ-ն էլ է լինելու էլ ավելի ակտիվ, և եթե առանց կապիտուլ յանտի ընտրություններ լինեն՝ մենք ակտիվորեն մասնակցելու ենք»,- դեռևս փետրվարին ասել էր ՀՀ երրորդ նախագահ, ՀՀԿ նախագահ Սերժ Սարգսյանը: Հիմա քաղաքական ուժերից շատերը պատրաստվում են արտահերթ ընտրությունների: Ի վերջո, իսկ ի՞նչ դիրքորոշում ունի այսօր ՀՀԿ-ն: Այս հարցը կուսակցության փոխնախագահ Արմեն Աշոտյանը համարում է բազմաթիվ անհայտներով հավասարում: «Մի քանի հարցեր կան. ընտրություններ լինելո՞ւ են, թե՞ ոչ, այդ ընտրություններին մասնակցելու իմաստն ու նպատակը ո՞րն է լինելու, հականիկոլական կոալիցիան հաղթելու շանսեր ունենալո՞ւ է, թե՞ ոչ, երաշխիքներ, որ այդ ընտրությունները չեն կեղծվելու, լինելո՞ւ են, թե՞ ոչ»,- օրերս իր հարցազրույցներից մեկում ասել էր Աշոտյանը, ով ընտրություններին նախապատրաստվելու ներկա փուլը համարում է տենդ: Ըստ Աշոտյանի, ՀՀԿ-ն կմասնակցի միայն այն դեպքում, եթե տեսնեն, որ իրենց մասնակցությամբ կարող են փոխել Հայաստանի՝ դեպի կործանում տանող ճանապարհը: Սակայն ընտրությունների թեման նա միրաժ է համարում՝ նշելով, որ ՀՀԿ-ն դեռ չի շտապում: Ի դեպ, ուշագրավ է, որ Աշոտյանի կարծիքով, ընդդիմադիր դաշտում առկա է ՀՀԿ-ի հաշվին դիրքավորվելու խնդիր: Ինչ վերաբերում է ընդհանրապես ընդդիմադիր դաշտին, ապա, նույն հարցազրույցում Աշոտյանն ասել է, որ եթե ընդդիմությունը լինի միասնական, Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը չի կարող իր ուզածով քաղաքական սցենար գծել: ՀՀԿ փոխնախագահի համոզմամբ, կարելի է կանխել Նիկոլ Փաշինյանի սցենարով ընտրությունները, քանի որ դրանք հարց չեն լուծելու: «Դրանք դժոխքի նոր պտույտ են լինելու, 9-րդ շրջանն են լինելու», ասում է նա՝ հավելելով, որ եթե ՀՓՇ մասնակից կուսակցությունները չեն մասնակցում այս ընտրություններին, ապա դրանք կորցնում են իրենց լեգիտիմությունը: Ըստ Աշոտյանի, «Նիկոլ Փաշինյանը չի կարող իր գրպանի շներով ընտրություն բեմադրել»: Նա կարծում է, որ այս պայքարը չպետք է լինի «երկու ճաղատների պայքար՝ սանրի համար»: Թե ում նկատի ունի, նա չի բացում փակագծերը՝ վստահ, որ հասկացողը հասկացավ։
