Թթվածնով հարուստ էկզոմոլորակները չեն կարող կյանքի համար նպաստավոր լինել, չնայած այն փաստին, որ այս տարրը Երկրի վրա կյանքի համար չափազանց կարեւոր է: Այս մասին նշված է ACS Earth and Space Chemistry ամսագրում հրապարակված նոր հետազոտության մեջ:

«Նախկինում ենթադրում էին, որ թթվածնի եւ օրգանական նյութերի առկայությունը մատնանշում է կյանքի գոյությունը, բայց մեզ հաջողվել է աբիոտիկ կերպով այս բաղադրամասերը վերարտադրել մի քանի սիմուլյացիաներում: Սա վկայում է այն մասին, որ նույնիսկ համընդհանուր ընդունելի բիոպատճենների համատեղ առկայությունը դրական արդյունք չի երաշխավորում»,- ասել է հետազոտության առաջատար հեղինակ Չաո Հեն:

Երկրի մթնոլորտը մի քանի տարրերից է կազմված. 20 տոկոսը բաժին է ընկնում թթվածնին, իսկ մնացյալ մասը՝ գերազանցապես ազոտ է, արգոն եւ ածխածին: Գիտնականները վաղուց ենթադրում էին, որ թթվածնի առկայությունը կարող է մատնացույց անել կյանքի գոյությունը, սակայն նոր հետազոտությունը ստիպում է կասկածել այս տեսությանը:

Գիտնականների խումբն անցկացրել է սիմուլյացիոն փորձարկում՝ թեստավորելով 9 տարբեր գազային խառնուրդներ, որոնք համապատասխանում են սուպեր-Երկրի եւ մինի-Նեպտունի տիպի էկզոմոլորակային մթնոլորտի ենթադրյալ բաղադրությանը: Յուրաքանչյուր խառնուրդը պարունակում է ջուր, ածխաթթու գազ, ամոնիակ եւ մեթան, ու տաքացվել է տարբեր ջերմաստիճաններով՝ ըստ Ֆարենհայտի 80-ից մինչեւ 700 աստիճան:

Երեք օր Planetary HAZE (PHAZER) խցիկի մեջ տեղադրելուց եւ 2 տեսակի՝ պլազմայի եւ ուլտրամանուշակագույն ճառագայթման էներգիայով ներգործելուց հետո հետազոտողները հայտնաբերել են, որ տարբեր միացություններ թթվածին եւ օրգանիկա են գեներացնում՝ ներառյալ ֆորմալդեհիդ եւ ցիանային ջրածին:

«Մեր լաբորատոր փորձարկումները ցույց են տալիս, որ բարդ մթնոլորտային ֆոտոքիմիան կարող է տեղի ունենալ տարբեր էկզոմոլորակային մթնոլորտներում եւ հանգեցնել նոր գազային արտադրանքի եւ մշուշի մասնիկների ձեւավորման՝ ներառյալ միացությունների (O2 եւ օրգանական նյութեր), որոնք կարող են սխալմամբ նույնականացվել որպես բիոպատճեններ»,- նշում են հեղինակները:

2018 թվականի սկզբին հրապարակված հետազոտության մեջ նաեւ նշված է, որ թթվածնի հայտնաբերումը կարող է բավարար հիմնավորում չլինել կյանքի գոյության մասին եզրակացնելու համար:
