Շատերի սիրելի ջինսի նախապատմությունը. ամերիկյա՞ն, թե՞ իտալական

Մենք գիտենք, որ...

Ջինսն առաջին անգամ արտադվել է 1853 թվականին ԱՄՆ–ում Լևի Ստրաուսի կողմից, որպես ֆերմերների աշխատանքային հագուստ:

Իրականում այդպես չէ:

Պարզվում է, որ ջինսի կտորը առաջին անգամ արտադրվել է Իտալիայում դեռևս 16– րդ դարում: Այն կոչվում էր jean (իտալերեն «gene» բառից, որն էլ առաջացել է Ջենովա քաղաքի անունից) և արտադրվում էր Ջենովայում, որտեղ առկա էր զարգացած տեքստիլ արդյունաբերություն, միևնույն ժամանակ արտադրվում էր լեղակ կապույտ ներկանյութը: Առաջին ջինսե տաբատները կարվում էին ֆրանսիական Նիմ քաղաքում՝ Ջենովայի՝ պինդ անկյունային հյուսվածքով բամբակից կտորներից: Այն ժամանակներում ջինսը հիմնականում նավաստիների հագուստն էր, անգամ Կոլումբոսի նավերի առագաստներն էին ջինսի կտորից: Հետագայում այդ կտորից հագուստն սկսեցին օգտագործել ամերիկացի բեռնակիրները, ավելի ուշ՝ կովբոյները և ոսկի որոնողները:

Ջինսը ներկայումս ամենօրյա հագուստ է խիտ բամբակյա կտորից։ 1853 թվականից ԱՄՆ–ում «Levi Strauss & Co» ընկերությունը սկսում է ջինսե տաբատներ արտադրել: Սկզբում ջինսերը կարում էին անգլիական կամ ամերիկյան արտադրության կանեփի թելերից ստեղծված կտորից։ Հետագայում կանեփը փոխվեց բամբակի, իսկ արդեն «ջինսային հեղափոխության» ժամանակ (1960–ական թվականներ) կանեփային կտոր ընդհանրապես չէր օգտագործվում արտադրությունում։

«Levi Strauss & Co» ընկերությունը ստեղծել է ազգությամբ գերմանացի Լևի Ստրաուսը, որը ծնվել էր Գերմանիայի Բուտտենհեյմ քաղաքում: Մեծանալով աղքատ ընտանիքում՝ նա եղբայրների հետ մեկնում է Ամերիկա՝ բախտ որոնելու: Սկզբից Նյու Յորքում Ստրաուս եղբայրները զբաղվում էին գալանտերային ապրանքների (կոճակ, ասեղ, թել և այլն) և կտորեղենի առաքումով: Կալիֆորնիայում «ոսկու տենդի» սկսվելու հետ եղբայրները որոշեցին Լևիին գործուղել այնտեղ՝ ընկերության մասնաճյուղ բացելու համար: 1853 թվականին, ստանալով ամերիկյան քաղաքացիություն, նա ուղևորվեց Սան–Ֆրանցիսկո և բացեց ընկերության գրասենյակ: Գործերը հաջող էին ընթանում, և Լևի Ստրաուսը հիմնադրում է իր «Levi Strauss & Co» ընկերությունը: Ընկերությունը վաճառում էր ոչ միայն պատրաստի հագուստ, այլ նաև ջինսի կտորեղեն ոսկի որոնողների տենտերի ու վրանների համար: Մի անգամ կտորեղենի մի խմբաքանակ չվաճառվեց, իսկ ոսկի որոնողներից մեկն էլ բողոքել էր, որ աշխատանքային տաբատները անորակ են և շուտ են մաշվում ու փչանում: Լևին այդ ժամանակ որոշեց տենտերի և վրանների՝ պահեստում մնացած կտորեղենից աշխատանքային տաբատներ կարել: Նոր կարված ջինսե տաբատները ոսկի որոնողներին շատ դուր եկան: Նրանք ամուր էին և ուշ մաշվող: Հետագայում արդեն ջինս հագնում էին նաև այլ բանվորները, քանի որ դա պրակտիկ էր: Ամենօրյա հագուստ ջինսը դարձել է ավելի ուշ՝ 1960–ականներին, երբ դրանք մոդայիկ դարձան նախ՝ Ամերիկայում, հետո էլ՝ ամբողջ աշխարհում:

Դեռևս 2001 թվականին «Levi Strauss & Co» ընկերությունը աճուրդում ծախսեց 45 հազար դոլար, որպեսզի գնի մի զույգ ջինս, որը արտադրել էին հենց իրենք՝ մոտավորապես 1880 թվականին: Ջինսերը գտնվել էին Նևադա նահանգի մի հանքափորի՝ գյուղում գտնվող տանը։ Այն ժամանակ ընկերությունը հազիվ թե երևակայեր, որ գալու է ժամանակ, երբ գրեթե բոլորը հագնելու են ջինսեր, իսկ որ ամենազարմանալին է՝ մաշված և պատառոտված ջինսե հագուստ:
