Այս զույգն ամուսնացավ, իսկ օրեր անց նրանց հենց անկողնու մեջ ձերբակալեցին. աղմկահարույց պատմություն, որը ցնցեց ողջ աշխարհը. ԼՈՒՍԱՆԿԱՐՆԵՐ

Մոտ 50 տարի առաջ Ամերիկային հուզեց աղմկահարույց մի գործ: Սպիտակամորթը համարձակվել էր ամուսնանալ աֆրոամերիկուհու հետ:

Միլրեդ Ջետերը և Ռիչարդ Լավինգը տարբեր ռասսաների ներկայացուցիչներ էին, բայց դա չխանգարեց նրանց սիրել միմյանց: Նրանք ցանկանում էին ամուսնանալ, բայց դա անօրինական էր նրանց նահանգում:

1958 թվականին նրանք մեկնեցին Վաշինգտոն, Կոլումբիայի շրջան, որպեսզի դառնան օրինական ամուսիններ:

Բայց երբ նրանք վերադարձան Վիրջինիայում զույգին, բառիս բուն իմաստով, գիշերը հանեցին անկողնուց, ձերբակալեցին և մեկ տարի ազատազրկման դատապարտեցին:

 

Դատարանը որոշեց ազատել նրանց մի պայմանով, որ Միլդրեդը և Ռիչարդը լքեն նահանգը:

Այս դեպքը շատ կարևոր դարձավ ԱՄՆ-ի պատմության մեջ:

Զույգը հայց ներկայացրեց՝ պահանջելով իրենց վրայից հանել մեղադրանքը:

Բայց ամենից շատ զույգն ուզում էր վերջ դնել նման խտրականություններին:

 

Լանվինգները չէին ցանկանում ուշադրություն գրավել: Նրանք ուղղակի արդարություն էին ուզում և ցանկանում էին ապրել հանգիստ և երջանիկ իրենց ընտանիքում:

Այս արտասովոր դեպքը փոխեց գործերի ընթացքը Վիրջինիայում: Ամուսնանալով՝ զույգին հաջողվեց շրջանցել Վիրջինյա նահանգի ռասսայական տարբերությունների մասին 1924 թվականի ակտը, որը նույնպես արգելում էր ամուսնությունը մարդկանց միջև, ովքեր դասակարգվում էին ինչպես «սպիտակներ» և «սևամորթներ» այդ ակտում:

ԱՄՆ-ի Գերագույն դատարանը այդ ժամանակ փորձում էր մի կողմ քաշված մնալ: Բայց դա նրան չհաջողվեց, քանի որ գործի մեջ մտավ նաև Սահմանադրությունը:

 

1967 թվականին «Լավինգն ընդդեմ Վիրջինյա նահանգի» գործը հաջողությամբ ավարտվեց: Հունիսի 12-ին Գերագույն դատարանի դատավորը հրապարակեց վճիռը. «Ռիչարդ և Միլդրեդ Լավինգները իրավունք ունեն առավոտյան արթնանալ միասին և երեկոյան քնել միասին՝ համոզված լինելով, որ շերիֆը չի թակի նրանց ննջասենյակի դուռը կամ չի ներխուժի նրանց կյանք, գրպանից հանելով լապտերը՝ պահել նրանց դեմքին»:

 

Լավինգների իննամյա պայքարը հանուն իրենց սիրո, իհարկե, փաստաբանների օգնությամբ ավարտվեց հաղթանակով: Արդյունքում հաղթեցին շատերը, այլ ոչ միայն Լավինգ ամուսինները: Տարբեր ռասսաների պատկանող զույգերը կարող էին հանգիստ ապրել ԱՄՆ-ի բոլոր նահանգներում: ԱՄՆ-ի Գերագույն դատարանը չեղյալ հայտարարեց այն բոլոր օրենքները, որոնք սահմանափակում էին մաշկի տարբեր գույներ ունեցողների և տարբեր ռասսաների մարդկանց կենակցությունը կամ ամուսնությունը:

Միլդրեդ Լավինգը 2007 թվականին, արդեն այրիացած, նշեց իր ամուսնության 40 տարին:

 

Իմ կարծիքով՝ շատ լուսավոր պատմություն է սա՝ երջանիկ ավարտով:

Նրանք ոչ միայն պայքարեցին իրենց երջանկության համար, այլ նաև ուրիշ մարդկանց համար:
