Fidget spinner-ը հայտնագործել է մասնագիտությամբ քիմիկոս Քեթրին Հետտինգերը։ Հարկ է նշել, որ հայտնագործման համար պատենտը ձևակերպվել է դեռ անցյալ դարի 90-ականներին։ Ինչպես գյուտի հեղինակն է ասել հարցազրույցներից մեկում, անսովոր այս խաղալիքը նա ստեղծել է ձեռքի տակ եղած նյութերով։ Նման խաղալիք ստեղծելուն կնոջը ոգեշնչել է նրա դուստրն, ով հազվագյուտ հիվանդություն ունի։ Որպեսզի օգնի դստերը պայքարել մկանային հոգնածության դեմ, մայրը ստեղծեց հենց այս խաղալիք-անտիսթրեսը։
