Առաջին հայացքից նա անհոգ գեղեցկուհի է, սակայն երբ տեսնեք նրան ամբողջ հասակով մեկ և իմանաք նրա պատմությունը՝ պարզապես կփշաքաղվեք (Ֆոտոշարք)

Քրիստի Ուիմբրելին իր ամբողջ կյանքում քայլել է ձեռնափայտի օգնությամբ: Դեռ մանուկ հասակից բժիշկները ամեն ինչ արել էին, որպեսզի աղջկա ոտքը կարողանան փրկել:

6 տարեկան հասակում բժիշկները աղջկա մոտ վզի քաղցկեղ էին ախտորոշել: Վիրահատությունից հետո, նրանք անզգուշաբար վնասել էին ներվը, որի հետևանքով Քրիսթիի աջ ոտքը դադարել էր զարգանալ ինչպես հարկն է: Հետագայում առաջացած բարդությունների պատճառով աջ ոտքը ձախից 5 սմ.-ով կարճացել էր:

Քրիսթինը տարել է 19 վիրահատություն: Սկզբում բժիշկները փորձել էին բուժել, իսկ հետո նույնիսկ հեռացնել նրա ոտքը: Յուրաքանչյուր վիրահատությունից հետո, նա կես տարի հայտնվում էր հաշմանդամի սայլակին:

Աղջիկը երբեք չի կրել կիսաշրջազգեստ՝ խուսափելով շրջապատի խոսակցություններից և իր հասակակցիների խղճահարությունից: Բայց բժիշկները խորհուրդ էին տալիս նրան հավաքելու ուժերը և կրկին փորձելու, քանի որ շանսեր դեռ կային: Այդպես Քրիստին տանջվելով ապրեց մինչև 30 տարեկան, երբ հասկացավ, որ այլևս չի ցանկանում ապրել հույսով, այլ վերջնականապես ցանկանում է լուծել իր խնդիրը:

Բարեբախտաբար բժշկությունը իրականում այնքան զարգացավ, որ հաշմանդամության փոխարեն աղջիկը պրոթեզի շնորհիվ սկսեց ինքնուրույն տեղաշարժվել և վերջնականապես կյանքում առաջին անգամ իրեն զգաց, որպես լիարժեք անձնավորություն:

Թենիս, ֆիթնես, պար, մրցույթ, ահա արդեն այն ամենը, ինչով նա հիմա կազմակերպում է իր առօրյան և լրացնում տարիների ընթացքում բաց թողածը: Այժմ նա կրում է գեղեցիկ զգեստներ, և նրա արհեստական ոտքը շատ գեղեցիկ է դիտվում:
