Շիրակի թեմի առաջնորդ Միքայել եպիսկոպոս Աջապահյանը վրդովված է, թե ինչպես կարող են իր 19 տարվա անբասիր ծառայությունը հավասարեցնել զրոյի՝ հայտարարելով, թե ինքը արգելել է չմկրտված զինծառայող Գրիգոր Եղոյանին եկեղեցական կարգով հուղարկավորել, երբ ինքն ընդամենը առաջարկել է հուղարկավորել քաղաքացիական ծեսով և բացատրել, թե ինչու է անթույլատրելի եկեղեցական կարգով հուղարկավորելը:

Tert.am-ի հետ զրույցում սրբազանը նշեց, թե իր հետ ոչ ոք չի եկել և չի խոսել, բացառությամբ մեկ անձից, ով զուտ հարց է տվել, թե կարո՞ղ է եկեղեցում դրվել զինվորի դին, եթե մկրտված չէ: «Հարց է տվել, բացատրել եմ, ասել է շնորհակալություն ու գնացել է, հետո իմացել եմ, որ խմորվել է հարցը, ինչ-որ բաներ են անում, ես տեղյակ եմ եղել միայն այն ժամանակ, երբ որ եկեղեցի էին մտնում: Զանգեցի գյուղապետին ասացի ի՞նչ է կատարվում, ասեց «բա չեմ կարող ժողովրդին կանգնեցնել», ասացի «դե լավ, ինչ ուզում եք արեք»:

Այսինքն՝ որևէ արգելք չի եղել, ու չի էլ կարող լինել զոհված զինվորի նկատմամբ»,-ասաց նա:
Միքայել եպիսկոպոս Աջապահյանը նշեց, թե երբ իմացել է, որ զինծառայողը մկրտված չի, ընդամենը առաջարկել է քաղաքացիական ծեսով հուղարկավորել: «Քի՞չ մարդկանց ենք քաղաքացիական ծեսով հուղարկավորում, ժողովրդի կեսը քաղաքացիական ծեսով է հուղարկավորվում, զինվորների կեսն էլ քաղաքացիական ծեսով է թաղվում և ոչ մի խնդիր չի լինում, չգիտես ինչու այս անգամ խնդիր դարձավ, կամ քի՞չ հերոսներ են քաղաքացիական ծեսով հուղարկավորվել: Ընդամենը առաջարկ է եղել՝ քանի որ մկրտված չէ, քաղաքացիական ծեսով հուղարկավորեք, ո՞վ ասաց, որ արգելվել է, թույլ չի տրվել, ո՞վ ասաց, որ դեմ ենք, անընդունելի է գյուղացիական խոսքուզրույցը դարձնել նման խնդիր: Ես ինքս եմ բոլոր զինվորներին եկեղեցով հուղարկավորելու հիմքը դրել, Ապրիլյան պատերազմի բոլոր զինվորներին ես եմ պնդել և պարտադրել, որ եկեղեցում դրվեն»,- ասաց նա և նշեց, թե նույնիսկ այս զինվորի դեպքում, երբ իր բացատրությունից հետո էլ այդուհանդերձ որոշել են եկեղեցական կարգով թաղել, ինքն է ընդառաջ գնացել է զուտ կրքերը հանդարտեցնելու համար:

Հիշեցնենք, որ փետրվարի 22-ին Արցախում հակառակորդի կողմից արձակված կրակոցից զոհված Ախուրյանի բնակիչ Գրիգոր Եղոյանի հարազատները ցանկացել են տղային հուղարկավորել եկեղեցական կարգով, սակայն, նրանց բացատրել են, որ չեն կարող եկեղեցում դնել նրա դին, քանի որ տղան մկրտված չէ, ինչը հարազատների ու գյուղացիների վրդովմունքի պատճառ է դարձել: Շիրակի թեմի առաջնորդ Միքայել եպիսկոպոս Աջապահյանի մերժումը ստանալուց հետո ախուրյանցիները միասնաբար որոշել են անտեսել եկեղեցու ընդդիմությունն ու զոհված զինվորի դին տարել են եկեղեցի: Այս իրավիճակը բազմաթիվ քննադատությունների առիթ է դարձել Շիրակի թեմի առաջնորդի հասցեին։ Նրան նույնիսկ բաց նամակ է հղվել՝ նշելով, թե հանուն հայրենյաց զոհված զինվորի դին եկեղեցում դնելու արգելքը մատնանշում է հոգևորականի «ստոր» արարքը:
