«Հայկական ժամանակ» թերթի տեղեկություններով, Ռոբերտ Քոչարյանը հիմնականում Ամերիկայի Միացյալ Նահանգներում է բնակվում: Մամուլի հրապարակումների համաձայն, նա այնտեղ շքեղ տուն է գնել և կյանքի մեծ մասն ընտանիքով այնտեղ է անցկացնում:

Ի դեպ, կարծիք կա, որ նա Հայաստանից մեկնել է հատկապես այն պատճառով, որպեսզի ցույց տա, թե ընդհանրապես չի խառնվում ներքաղաքական և նախընտրական գործընթացներին: Հիշեցնենք, նրա անվան հետ է կապվում Վարդան Օսկանյանի «Համախմբում» կուսակցությունը: Կարծիք կա, որ Քոչարյանի հետ որոշակի քաղաքական պայմանավորվածություն ունեն նաեւ Վիկտոր Դալլաքյանի «Երրորդ ուժ» կուսակցությունը, պաշտպանության նախկին նախարար Սեյրան Օհանյանն ու այլք:

Եվ հեռու մնալով՝ Քոչարյանը չի ցանկանում վնասել այս ուժերին, քանի որ իր անունը բացասական ազդեցություն կարող է թողել սույն ուժերի վրա: Մենք փորձեցինք Ռոբերտ Քոչարյանի՝ ԱՄՆ-ում բնակվելու և ստվերային կերպով Հայաստանի ներքաղաքական կյանքին մասնակցելու վերաբերյալ մեկնաբանություն ստանալ նրա գրասենյակի ղեկավար Վիկտոր Սողոմոնյանից, բայց վերջինս անհասանելի էր: Ի դեպ, Սողոմոնյանն օրեր առաջ հայտարարել էր, որ Քոչարյանը շուտով խորհրդարանական ընտրությունների վերաբերյալ հարցազրույց կտա:
