2015թ-ի հունվարի 12-ի առավոտը Գյումրիում արնաշաղախ էր: Մյասնիկյան փողոցը երկկողմանի փակ էր, 188 տունը՝ ոստիկանների կողմից շրջափակված: Լրագրողներին միայն հաջողվեց պարզել՝ դաժանաբար սպանվել էին ընտանիքի 6 անդամները՝ Սերյոժա, Հասմիկ Ավետիսյանները, նրանց դուստրը, որդին ու հարսը, փոքրիկ Հասմիկը, իսկ սրախողող արված 6ամսական Սերյոժային տեղափոխել են հիվանդանոց: Հարևաններն ու բարեկամները, ողջ Գյումրին ցնցված էր: Ո՞վ կարող էր լինել չափազանց համեստ, արդար քրտինքով ապրող Ավետիսյան ընտանիքի արյունարբու թշնամին:

Գյումրեցիներին վախի ու սարսափի զգացումն էր համակել: Շշուկով միմյանց հորդորում էին տանից դուրս չգալ, անծանոթների հետ չշփվել: Դեպքից ժամեր անց անց սպանության կասկածանքով ձերբակալվեց Գյումրիում տեղակայված ռուսական 102-րդ ռազմաբազայի դասալիք ժամկետային զինծառայող 19-ամյա Վալերի Պերմյակովը, ով իր, ինչպես հետագա, այնպես էլ նախաքննական ցուցմունքներում նշեց՝ գիշերը զենքը ձեռքին, ոտքով ռազմաբազայից հասել է Մյասնիկյան փողոց, Ավետիսյանների տուն մուտք է գործել պատահական, ջուր խմելու նպատակով, նրանց երբևէ չի ճանաչել, տան անդամներին՝ բոլորին սպանել է բռնվելու վախից: Վ. Պերմյակովը ձերբակալվեց եւ հանձնվեց ռուսական կողմին:

Ռուս զինծառայողի ձերբակալությանը հաջորդեցին գյումրեցիների բազմահազարանոց բողոքի ակցիաները՝ լի արդար ցասումով:Գյումրեցիները պահանջում էին մարդասպանին հանձնել իրենց, պատրաստ էին հոշոտել:Գյումրի ժամանած երկրի գլխավոր դատախազ Գևորգ Կոստանյանից ցուցարարները պահանջեցին կապվել ՌԴ գլխավոր դատախազ Յուրի Չայկայի հետ, իսկ երբ ՀՀ դատախազի համարձակությունը չներեց դա անել, պահանջեցին, որ նա անմիջապես լքի Գյումրին: Շիրակի մարզային դատախազության շենքում ժամեր շարունակ պատսպարված Գևորգ Կոստանյանի հասցեին ամենաթունդ հայհոյանքները տեղացին, իսկ դատախազության շենքի վրա խելագարված ամբոխը քարեր ու ձվեր նետեց:
