Նրանք որոշեցին միասին մահանալ «Տիտանիկի» վրա. նրանց սիրո պատմության հուշանվերը վաճառվեց ռեկորդային գնով

Իսիդորը և Իդա Ստրաուսը հիշվում են որպես «Տիտանիկի» աղետի ամենահայտնի զոհերից և ողբերգության մեջ զոհված քիչ թվով առաջին դասի ուղևորներից երկուսը, գրում է CNN-ը:

Ջեյմս Քեմերոնի՝ 1997 թվականի «Տիտանիկ» ֆիլմում պատկերված զույգին առաջարկվել է տեղ փրկարար նավակներից մեկում, սակայն նրանք հրաժարվել են բաժանվել։

Նյու Յորքի «Մեյսի» հանրախանութի համասեփականատիրոջ՝ Իսիդորի մարմինը հետագայում հայտնաբերվել է։ Նրա կնոջ մարմինը երբեք չի հայտնաբերվել։ Այժմ, պատմության ամենահայտնի ծովային աղետից մեկ դար անց, ոսկե գրպանի ժամացույցը, որն այդ ժամանակ կրում էր Իսիդորը, աճուրդում վաճառվել է ռեկորդային գնով։ Իսիդորը և Իդա Ստրաուսը վերադառնում էին հայրենիք՝ Գերմանիայից՝ Միացյալ Նահանգներ, երբ շքեղ օվկիանոսային լայները բախվել է սառցաբեկորի և խորտակվել։

Անգլիայում կայացած աճուրդի ժամանակ այս պատմական քրոնոմետրը վաճառվել է 1.78 միլիոն ֆունտ ստեռլինգով (2.34 միլիոն դոլար)՝ դառնալով պատմության մեջ «Տիտանիկի» հետ կապված ամենաթանկ հուշանվերը։

Նախորդ ռեկորդը պատկանում էր մեկ այլ ոսկե ժամացույցի՝ «Տիտանիկի» ամենահարուստ ուղևոր Ջոն Ջեյքոբ Աստոր IV-ի ժամացույցին, որը վաճառվել էր 1.175 միլիոն ֆունտ ստեռլինգով (1.485 միլիոն դոլար) 2024 թվականի ապրիլին։

Իսիդորի ժամացույցը գտնվել է նրա մարմնի վրա և վերադարձվել զույգի որդուն՝ Ջեսսիին։ Իդայի հիշատակը պահպանվել է Նյու Յորքի գերեզմանատանը գտնվող իր ամուսնու գերեզմանի վրա։ Ժամացույցի վրա փորագրված են Իսիդորի սկզբնատառերը և ամսաթիվը՝ 1888 թվականի փետրվարի 6-ը՝ նրա 43-ամյակը և այն տարին, երբ նա և իր եղբայր Նաթանը դարձել են Macy's-ի լիիրավ գործընկերներ։

«Հենրի Ալդրիջ և Որդի» աճուրդի տունը, որը կազմակերպել էր վաճառքը, ժամացույցը նկարագրել է որպես «Տիտանիկին վերաբերող ամենակարևոր և խորհրդանշական իրերից մեկը, որը երբևէ վաճառվել է»։ Ժամացույցը փոխանցվել էր ընտանիքի անդամների սերունդներին՝ աճուրդում հայտնվելուց առաջ։ 1997 թվականի «Տիտանիկ» ֆիլմում Շտրաուսները, որոնց մարմնավորում էին Լյու Փալթերը և Էլզա Ռեյվենը, պատկերված էին գրկախառնված մահճակալի վրա, երբ նավը խորտակվում էր։ Իրականում զույգը վերջին անգամ որպես փրկվածներ տեսել էին տախտակամածի վրա՝ միասին կանգնած և ձեռք ձեռքի տված, նախքան ալիքը նրանց քշելը։ Նրանց առաջարկվել էին տեղեր 8-րդ փրկանավակում, բայց Իսիդորը հրաժարվել էր նստել նավը, մինչև որ երիտասարդ տղամարդկանց, որոնց արգելվել էր նստել, թույլ չտվեցին մտնել, ըստ Մեծ Բրիտանիայի ազգային արխիվի փաստաթղթերի։ Նրա կինը, ըստ լուրերի, հրաժարվել է՝ ասելով. «Ուր էլ որ գնաս, ես էլ կգնամ»։

Սա նրանց սիրո պատմությունն է, որն ավարտվեց միասին «Տիտանիկի» վրա, և դրա հուշանվերը վաճառվել է ռեկորդային գնով։
